Research and Remediation Grants
Successful proposals to fund Friends of Deckers Creek's research and remediation projects, 2017 - 2019

November, 2017

This is a project proposal that I co-wrote with Friends of Deckers Creek's Executive Director and Remediation Project Manager during my time as an intern for FODC, a grass-roots organization dedicated to protecting the Deckers Creek Watershed in West Virginia. The EPA awarded FODC $120,000 to conduct fecal coliform and E. coli sampling in the watershed, develop a remediation plan, and educate the public about the hazardous effects of combined sewer overflows. Later on, as FODC's education coordinator, I also helped carry out the project.

September, 2018

I wrote this proposal requesting $5,000 from Stream Partners for two projects: 1) The Clean Creek
Program, which allows FODC to collect and disseminate data about the health of the watershed;
and 2) Matching funding for two WV CNCS VISTAs to help staff with creek monitoring, public
outreach and education, and event planning. The West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection awarded FODC $5,000 fund two VISTAs and laboratory testing of water samples as a part of its Clean Creek Program.
